Essential Fatty Acids

Essential Fatty Acids and Cold-pressed emollients from superfruits, seeds, nuts, vegetables and flowers

"Emollients are substances that soften and soothe the skin. They are used to correct dryness and scaling of the skin.

The terms "moisturizer" (something that adds moisture) and "emollient" (something that softens) are sometimes used interchangeably, as they describe different effects of these agents on the skin. However, the term emollient is most often used to describe single ingredients, whereas "moisturizer" describes finished products." From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Essential fatty acids, or EFAs, are fatty acids that humans must ingest for good health because the body requires them for many cellular functions but they are not produced by our bodies. There are only 2 essential fatty acids: Alpha-linolenic (Omega 3) and Linolenic (Omega 6).

"The beneficial effects obtained from these physiologic lipids may be achieved by increasing the dietary intake of essential fatty acids, and perhaps more so, by topical application of essential fatty acid-enriched formulations." Janice Brenner, BSP, MSc, MH, WT Bioriginal Food & Science Corp. Posted: December 23, 2005, from the March 2004 issue of C&T Magazine.

Cold pressing is the best process for the extraction of organic oils for several very good reasons. Organic, cold-pressed oils are the most environmentally friendly and nontoxic oils. They are made using hydraulic presses that use minimal electricity (fossil fuels) in their operation and generate very little heat in the pressing. Low heat (less than 110 degrees) is crucial in the cold pressing because it is well known that higher temperatures destroy vital phytonutrients and can cause trans fats to form.

These are the organic oils and butters used in Synthesis 345 first love collection:
